Alaska y los Pegamoides - Bailando (1982)

Not gonna lie, I straight up ripped this from my Facebook news feed when it popped up ten minutes ago. W’evs, the great thing about living in the 21st century is we don’t have to apologize for our research methods. Anyhoo - shit like this is Reason No. 1 to have paid more attention in college Spanish.

While the Brits were off diving head first into the Thatcher years, the resulting punk angst trickled down to our friends on the continent, who had just shaken themselves from the clutches of Franco during “The Transition.” The result: a burgeoning of creative scenes including La Movida Madrileña, which gave rise a slew of Spanish punk, new wave and pop acts like our friends Alaska y los Pegamoides, as well as other more well-renowned artists such as Pedro Almodóvar. Anyone wanna translate some wikis? Start trolling eBay España for some Parálisis Permanente 45’s? In the meantime put on that cake-white make-up, punky-color those locks, break out that studded belt and set course on your time machine for Madrid 1982.
